I am a patient and flexible assistant helping you to learn these difficult subjects. Few people are aware of the challenge you are undertaking and some special help may make all the difference in your success.

I am retired from industry having worked in many functions involving Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Program Management.

The subjects are technical in nature and, as a Tutor, seeing problems solved is what students want. For an online session, I have my camera arranged so that you can see what I write and follow the solution as it progresses. The worksheets will be sent to you after the lesson so that you have reference material for your review. For "in-person" lessons, you can have the worksheets we created during the lesson.

I can help with mathematics including Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, III, & Differential equations. Physics I & II ranging from Newton's laws, Work and Energy, Conservation of Momentum, Fluid Mechanics, Harmonic waves, Electric and Magnetic fields, & Electrical circuits.

I am flexible in time and location and typically can respond to your need on short notice meeting you in a library or other public place. If you send specific questions to me over email, I will respond with the detailed solution, often in only a few hours or less. There is no charge for that type of help.

Sincerely
Steve

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I can be of help in this subject area creating example problems and showing methods to build understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc. Help with understanding graphs and word problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I can be of great help in this subject area creating example problems, showing methods to help understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc.
Calculus,

Calculus

Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, II, III are subject areas that I can help with. The understanding of Limits leading up to the definition of the derivative are critical to understand the basics of the Calculus. Later using derivatives to solve word problems including rates and some analytical geometry. Integral Calculus comes later using that to calculate areas and solve problems involving Newtonian physics. Calculus III involves multiple integrals and three dimensional vector calculus for those students pursuing Science and Engineering degrees.
Physics,

Physics

Physics is really a broad subject covering the laws of motion through the basic nature of matter. I am experienced and knowledgeable in: Newtonian physics, the laws of motion defined originally by Isaac Newton including the 1st, 2nd and 3rd laws covering Ballistics, Statics, Dynamics, Impulse & Momentum and, Fluid mechanics. Forces due to electric and magnetic fields including the work of Coulomb, Maxwell, Faraday and others. I am very familiar with electric circuits and the quantitative analysis associated with them.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I studied Differential equations as both Math courses as well as analysis courses in Electrical Engineering. I am most familiar with LaPlace transform method of solving linear equations. There are a lot of "tricks" involved that mathematicians have devised over the years and it takes practice to use them. I can help you solve problems creating examples for later reference.
Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I hold a BSEE degree from University of Missouri and am a registered professional engineer in Missouri. I have worked as an Engineer and Engineering Manager and later as manufacturing and program manager roles for medical device companies. I can help you with active and passive circuit analysis problems using Node voltage & Mesh current methods as well as Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws.

100% Recommend

Stephen really worked step by step on each problem I wanted to review. He explained it to me better than my professor could all semester! I am one session in & already feel so much more confident for my exam. I love his hands-on, step-by-step teaching style. It helped me see the problem a different way. I definitely suggest Stephen. I will be having sessions for the remainder of my semester with him he was awesome! He also sends over any notes you went over incase you didn’t catch it all while trying to listen which made me less stress about writing everything down!

Heart of a Teacher

We went over impulse, conservation of momentum, impact, and work-energy principles. Stephen explained things quite well. I sent over pictures of the homework problems in advance and he made a lesson based on those. The lesson/tutoring felt organized and structured. It was clear that Stephen understands engineering.

Excellent teacher

Stephen has, once again, boosted my daughter’s confidence. She feels secure about appointments with him, knowing she comes out understanding , in 1 hour, what her teacher could not explain in several hours.

Excellent teacher

Stephen was so kind and sweet to my daughter, putting her at ease. He has such vast knowledge and great real life applications which he explains in a manner that is so much easier for my daughter to understand. I saw her go from depression to excitement in an hour. If her teacher had the same real world understanding of physics, perhaps we wouldn’t have had the privilege of meeting Stephen. We look forward to his help in the future.

Excellent Physics Tutor

Been learning higher level Physics with Stephen, he helps me prepare for exams and understand complex lab reports. He is very reliable and responds quickly to tutoring requests. If you send him what you are working on ahead of time, he is ready to explain it in a clear way so that I can understand it. Very happy with Stephen as my physics tutor!

Differential Equations- Laplace Tranformations

He very well versed in differential equations. I'm currently taking college different to equations and he was able to break down the laplace transformation equations to help me solve/evaluate equation them without using the transformation table and broke it down step by step. Also he was able to solve IVPs using Laplace transformations and broke it down giving indepth explanation. I highly recommend him for College Differential Equations tutoring.

Proficient in Circuits

Stephen knew the material for my Circuits I class. He is very patient and explains things well. If you have a question about something that he is going over, he will stop and explain it in a different way that may be easier to understand.
