I am a patient and flexible assistant helping you to learn these difficult subjects. Few people are aware of the challenge you are undertaking and some special help may make all the difference in your success.

I am retired from industry having worked in many functions involving Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Program Management.

As a Tutor, I can help with mathematics including Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, III, & Differential equations. Physics I & II ranging from Newton's laws, Work and Energy, Conservation of Momentum, Fluid Mechanics, Harmonic waves, Electric and Magnetic fields, & Electrical circuits.

I am flexible in time and location and typically can respond to your need on short notice meeting you in a library or other public place. If you send specific questions to me over email, I will respond with the detailed solution, often in only a few hours or less. There is no charge for that type of help.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I can be of help in this subject area creating example problems and showing methods to build understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc. Help with understanding graphs and word problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I can be of great help in this subject area creating example problems, showing methods to help understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc.
Calculus,

Calculus

Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, II, III are subject areas that I can help with. The understanding of Limits leading up to the definition of the derivative are critical to understand the basics of the Calculus. Later using derivatives to solve word problems including rates and some analytical geometry. Integral Calculus comes later using that to calculate areas and solve problems involving Newtonian physics. Calculus III involves multiple integrals and three dimensional vector calculus for those students pursuing Science and Engineering degrees.
Physics,

Physics

Physics is really a broad subject covering the laws of motion through the basic nature of matter. I am experienced and knowledgeable in: Newtonian physics, the laws of motion defined originally by Isaac Newton including the 1st, 2nd and 3rd laws covering Ballistics, Statics, Dynamics, Impulse & Momentum and, Fluid mechanics. Forces due to electric and magnetic fields including the work of Coulomb, Maxwell, Faraday and others. I am very familiar with electric circuits and the quantitative analysis associated with them.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I studied Differential equations as both Math courses as well as analysis courses in Electrical Engineering. I am most familiar with LaPlace transform method of solving linear equations. There are a lot of "tricks" involved that mathematicians have devised over the years and it takes practice to use them. I can help you solve problems creating examples for later reference.
Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I hold a BSEE degree from University of Missouri and am a registered professional engineer in Missouri. I have worked as an Engineer and Engineering Manager and later as manufacturing and program manager roles for medical device companies. I can help you with active and passive circuit analysis problems using Node voltage & Mesh current methods as well as Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws.

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

I have knowledge of the following trigonometric functions: Sine, Cosine, Tangent, Cotangent, Secant, Cosecant. I also excel at geometric problem solving.

Proficient in Circuits

Stephen knew the material for my Circuits I class. He is very patient and explains things well. If you have a question about something that he is going over, he will stop and explain it in a different way that may be easier to understand.

Patrick, 1 lesson with Stephen

Great teacher!

Super patient and makes material easy to understand! Highly recommend. He has great availability and makes math easy and understandable

Devon, 10 lessons with Stephen

Knowledgable and helpful

I appreciate Stephen for helping my daughter with a subject she needed support in at the college level. My daughter said Stephen helped her gain a better understanding of the concepts she was learning.

Brenda, 2 lessons with Stephen

Great physics tutor

Stephen helped with specific questions I had and helped me organize all the information I needed to know for what I am studying.

Celina, 1 lesson with Stephen

Knowledgeable, good teacher

Reviewed Algebra 2 concepts with my daughter. Was patient, knowledgeable. Able to meet us at short notice. Explained concepts well. Plan to continue lessons with Stephen.

Personalized and Thorough Tutor

Mr. Stephen could not have come along at a better time. I was struggling to understand the concepts in Physics. In fact, I even dreaded going to class. Through his patience and expertise, I feel more confident in working problems and understanding solutions. He even tailors our sessions to relate to the medical field because he knows I am a pre-med student. I highly recommend Mr. Stephen to anyone in need of a Physics tutor!

Sonia, 5 lessons with Stephen

Very knowledgeable

Stephen is a fantastic tutor and has a wide breadth of knowledge in both physics and calc. He was able to explain concepts clearly and answer all of my questions.

Shauna, 3 lessons with Stephen

Very Unprofessional and Offensive

During a second tutoring session with Stephen, because I didn't know the answer to a question, Stephen said to me "every educated person should know what... is". I told him that I didn't appreciate him saying that and I took great offense to him insinuating that I'm not an educated person and found it very insulting. He did not offer an apology, but instead proceeded to justify his reasoning for calling me uneducated. I find it ironic that as a tutor, Stephen worked two of the homework problems wrong that he assisted me with, resulting in the wrong answers, which cost me points.

Tutor responded:

I'm sorry this woman had such a negative reaction that was so surprising. I suppose you can't please all of the people all of the time!

Knowledgeable in Calculus 2, Series and integration

Stephen helped with an array of problems for Calculus II, he is really knowledgeable in the topic. I definitely recommend you choose this tutor if you are looking for help in Calculus!
