I would prefer to tutor in German. I also studied music and voice, and can teach music theory, which might be useful for students studying these subjects. I used to have a K-12 FL Teaching Certificate with my BA, but have not renewed as I became an RN in 1988 and quite simply made more money than occasionally substituting. I come to the student if within 15 miles or so radius.
My strength lies in teaching also music, piano, theory and ear training. Before I became an RN, I taught piano here in Fort Walton Beach for about 20 years and prepared my students for the National Guild Auditions. I prefer traveling to the student's home. I also can coach for German Art Songs.

I am impressed by Frau W.'s preparation for each lesson with the girls. I had thought a German language tutor would simply practice speech and vocabulary. Frau W. brings much more creativity and depth to her lessons because she teaches language AND MORE by exploring a variety of subjects with the girls. She also uses a good diversity of methods--songs, stories, mathematics, art, etc. I am pleased that these tutoring sessions are enriching in so many ways!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I used to have a K-12 Florida Teaching Certificate for Substituting. I have not renewed because I became an RN and made a lot more money. Were it not for my walking issues, I'd be still working, for I loved my job.
I speak German and English, and teach German with all the Grammar challenges. Since I learnt in School and also later here more English and the Grammar with it and for teaching German, I must know enough English Grammar to explain and compare, I feel qualified to help students.
