I am an English & a Communications Instructor with a BA in English, an MA in English, an MA in Educational Administration/Supervision, and 24 hours of Graduate Study in Corporate & Political Communication.
I have a genuine love for the English language & the written word. My MA is in 20th c American Literature and I love to read. I have taught on the high school and college levels, as well as on the corporate level and have tried to instill a love of learning in each of my students.
I do not lecture to my students, but involve my students in the learning process. I do not use a pedagogical approach, but an andragogical approach in which learners are involved in activities which allow them to apply what they have learned.
I have taught English, Grammar, Spelling, & Literature on the high school level, and Composition, Public Speaking, Human Communication, & Technical Writing on the college level.
I am available daily from 10 am until 8 pm, and am willing to travel up to 12 miles to meet at a mutually agreed upon location. My base rate is $50.00 per hour.
I look forward to hearing from you, and assisting you in achieving success in your studies or in your life goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in English, and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration/Supervision. I have taught English courses in grades 9-12, and I have taught Composition, Literature, Speech, Communication, and Technical Writing on the college level.
As a college professor, with degrees in English and Communications, I have taught courses in Speech, Oral Communication, Human Communication, and Public Speaking.
I have found that most people, whether or not they are students, are not comfortable presenting information before a group.
When I teach classes in Public Speaking, I emphasize that my students focus on the 3 Ps: Preparation, Practice, & Performance. It is amazing how much progress they make during the term.
