Learning should be fun, not a hassle! I am an experienced teacher, specializing in the primary grades, although I have taught at the college and adult levels as well. A graduate of the National College of Education (now called National Louis University), in Evanston IL, teaching is my passion.

In addition to a BA in Applied Behavioural Sciences, I have met all of the requirements for a B.S. in Elementary Education with the exception of Practice Teaching. I was too busy teaching to take four months off to practice teach. Additionally I have more than 120 Hours at the Mayerson Academy in Cincinnati where I focused on reading, phonics, and the others primary grade subjects and many of the current techniques for teaching them.

Teaching the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic (and, yes, even penmanship) should not be done to the tune of the hickory stick, but with love, patience, and understanding. I can offer your child an emotionally safe environment in which to learn and grow.

In addition to working with children in the primary grades, I also work with adults and students of all ages on English as a second language.

A Gem!

This is our first experience using a tutor. Finding Cindy was like hitting the jackpot. She is prompt, organized, friendly, and does not waste time. She gets right into learning. She has a great sense of humor which put our son at ease and makes learning fun. Cindy should add Magician to her profile because our son looks forward to his tutor time! Thank you!

Quality FCAT Prep With Great Results

Mrs. Cindy H. has a great and calming personality, which is very comforting for students who are insecure in their abilities. She is very motivating and adjusts the goal with an individual study plan. She creates a trustworthy and motivational tutoring environment due to her great educational experience. My daughter feels very comfortable with her and has started believing more in herself. Thus, a greater joy working with numbers, which results in better grades. My 9 year old girls is ready for the FCAT test!! Thank you so much!!

Excellent Tutor!!

Cindy is an experienced, very patient and excellent tutor. she is currently teaching Math and English for my 3rd grade daughter. Initially Cindy observed the student's knowledge in understanding the subjects and she came up with a plan with identified areas where improvement is needed by teaching the fundamentals thoroughly. Cindy is not only covering subjects just with respect to what was taught in the class, she is also preparing my daughter for FCAT exams on a regular basis and she knows how to rotate the subjects based on student mood as well.I would strongly recommend to utilize Cindy's experience.

Such a Fantastic Tutor!!!

I needed a tutor for my fourth grader for review in some of the math sections of the FCAT [fractions, percent’s]. After reviewing the options on WyzAnt, I chose Cindy based upon her other posted promising reviews. I emailed Cindy that night and she responded promptly the next day. Cindy was very accommodating of our schedule, as I work and she even set up and reserved a quiet room at our meeting site. She was prepared to tutor and got right to the topic with no time to waste. Cindy utilized real life tools and scenarios like measuring cups and coins to teach my son concepts which helped him to grasp the math quickly; she was prepared with additional work sheets and per my request, worked out of the math prep guide I provided. Cindy was continuously patient yet direct, and distinctively clever with math tricks. Cindy tutored my fourth grader so well in six sessions that he shared with me how he felt so much better about facing the FCAT math. Cindy helped my son to reach a higher level of understanding and in turn helped to boost his self-confidence in math. The investment we made in Cindy is minor compared to how much more confident my son feels about grasping the math steps she taught him. I would positively recommend Cindy to other students whom require a successful tutor. I think she's FANTASTIC!!!

Miriane, Thank you so much for the very kind words. I am glad that your son's confidence level has increased. Please let me know how he does on the FCAT math. Kindest regards, Cindy.

Excellent

Cindy H. was wonderful and patient with my little child at five when attention span is short. His last report card had improvements everywhere with an A in math. We will be using Cindy through out the summer to keep him ahead. Thanks.

Kind-hearted, patient and organized!

Cindy is patient, kind and understanding. She immediately bonded with my son who struggles with ADHD. Had him laughing at the front door at their first meeting! I was amazed that she came to the first tutoring session with great things for the 2 of them to work on! We are already seeing improvement in his confidence and his grades!
