Learning should be fun, not a hassle! I am an experienced teacher, specializing in the primary grades, although I have taught at the college and adult levels as well. A graduate of the National College of Education (now called National Louis University), in Evanston IL, teaching is my passion.

In addition to a BA in Applied Behavioural Sciences, I have met all of the requirements for a B.S. in Elementary Education with the exception of Practice Teaching. I was too busy teaching to take four months off to practice teach. Additionally, I have more than 120 Hours at the Mayerson Academy in Cincinnati where I focused on reading, phonics, and the other primary grade subjects and many of the current techniques for teaching them.

Teaching the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic (and, yes, even penmanship) should not be done to the tune of the hickory stick, but with love, patience, and understanding. I offer your child an emotionally safe environment in which to learn and grow. Whether you want to supplement the classroom experience or provide the full home-schooling experience in 2 -3 hours per day, look no further.

Caring, creative, and knowledgeable

Cindy has been working with our 11-year-old son for several months on his reading, writing, and comprehension. She always designs creative lessons that focus on specific skills for that session. She is also very kind and genuinely interested in helping him grow as a student. She selected a great novel that he can’t wait to read each week and creates writing assignments that cater to his interests. She is also very flexible with scheduling and usually goes over the one-hour tutoring session to provide additional instruction. Overall, Cindy is a great tutor and we are thankful to have found her!

An Extraordinary Tutor!

It is my first time having a tutor for my child, who was on the verge of being held back. Cindy is truly an amazing gem! She not only is improving his reading and writing so far, but is improving his confidence and interest in the English subject! Cindy is a kind and caring person, with the passion to help kids in need, and my son loves her personality!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Cindy has been tutoring my 3 and a half year old for almost two months. Since my daughter is quite young Cindy has to keep her engaged and focused as a 3 year old can have a shoart attention span. She does a good job of making sure she completes pages in her workbook along with some singing and book reading to break it up and keep it fun.

This is my daughter's second lesson with Cindy for 5th grade math and the lessons have been very productive thus far. My daughter is gaining more confidence as she builds her math skills.

Brilliant, Empathetic , Organized | Just what my student needed!

"Ms. Cindy is the best tutor ever." - 5th grade student From our very first engagement, I knew that Cindy was going to be a great fit for my student's needs. She answered my screener questions with great care and mastery. By the time we had our introduction meeting, I was already in love with her forethought and demeanor. / / We started 5th grade behind on reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar making it difficult to stay on par in the other core subjects, leaving me concerned about heading into middle school. / / Cindy starts each session with a personal and kind check-in before recentering my student for the day's tutoring. The daily social studies lessons are a "cool and fun" practice for reading and my student's favorite part of each session. By immediately engaging my student with an enjoyable task, the two of them flow through the hour with ease. The tips and tricks she instills empower my student with confidence and the ability to perform better in class. / / Most importantly, my student looks forward to the tutoring lessons and persevering through the challenges to level up. / / Today, my student earned a 100 on a big quiz and was recognized by the teacher.

Great patient tutor for English

Cindy has been helping my fifth grade son for over six months now. She helps him with reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. Most of all, I think she helped him gain confidence and understand why/ how mastering the language is important. Matthias now reads by himself a lot more than before. Cindy is also patient and nice, with a lot of expertise tutoring.
