I have 10 years of teaching experience ranging from 4th-7th grade in a variety of subjects including elementary and middle school Math, Pre-Algebra, Language Arts and Reading. I most recently taught Language Arts for Collier County Schools. I have a master's degree from ASU in Educational Theory and Practice and received my Bachelor's degree from Luther College in Elementary Education K-6. I also obtained a specialty K-8 reading endorsement certification, gifted and talented endorsement and Mathematics and Language Arts certification through 8th grade. Although my specialty is teaching math, I have a love for teaching all subjects to children and making learning fun and exciting for them. It brings a smile to my face when I can make a student connect to a concept that they did not understand before. I have been consistently tutoring a variety of aged children spanning from 4 years old-10th grade and all core subjects.

My current rate is $55/hr. However, if you have more than one child needing tutoring I only charge $10 more for the second child or $65/hr if sessions are combined into a group session.
Ashley had helped my daughter with her 6th grade math, and just finished tutoring my son with his 4th grade math. She is very patient and good at teaching. She understands parents' hope and students' need, therefore, she can successfully help them reach their goal. She is familiar with math curriculum in different grade. She is an experienced teacher. I highly recommend her.
Evaluated my daughters math skills, very thorough and patient. Look forward to the next lesson. My daughter enjoyed the session
We can't say enough about Ashley's approach to Tutoring.
Her ability to break down math concepts to our daughter have contributed to her confidence level reaching new highs. Our only regret is not working with her sooner.
Ashley has been tutoring my daughter since June 2013. We are very pleased with her. She is always prepared and on-time. She is very qualified, patient, and easy to work with. We highly recommend her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have six years of experience working and teaching K-6th subjects. I started my education career by student teaching in a Kindergarten and 3rd grade classroom. I then went on to teach 6th grade Math and Science for three years. This included teaching the 6th grade honors Pre-Algebra class. I then taught 4th and 5th grade the following two years. I have a variety of experience that ranges from K -6th as well as a degree in Elementary Education and a Kansas teaching license.
I have previously taught both 4th and 5th grade mathematics so I am very familiar with the subject matter that is being taught. I have been teaching common core for 3 years since it was adopted into the public school system classrooms in 2013. I have been consistently tutoring math content for almost 12 years now with 10 years experience as a classroom teacher.
I am interesting in tutoring for student with English as their Second Language (ESL). I have gained experience working with these students in the regular education school classroom. The middle school I formerly taught had a higher ESL population and I usually had at least 2 students per year in my classroom. I aware of the difference in teaching styles and that students with English as a Second Language learn better with pictures, short phrases/directions, and practice with verbally repeating knowledge and directions. I think it is important that every child succeed in the classroom setting and I would like to help in anyway I can to make a child's future brighter.
With my two years working and teaching 4th and 5th grade students we used a program in the schools called process spelling. It is similar to phonics in that it helps students learn vowel and consonant team patterns and sounds when trying to spell words. I also have a lot of experience in the classroom working with struggling readers in small groups to improve their phonics and reading skills.
As a teacher, I am used to teaching spelling on a daily basis. I have the background knowledge of how to best teach spelling, spelling patterns, rules and tricks as well as ways to help children not only study but remember how to spell words using various word rules.
While teaching in South Carolina, I spent two years working as a tutor after school. The tutoring program was geared specifically to failing and/or underprivileged students. I not only tutored them and helped them with their homework but I also had to provide them with and teach them a variety of study skills. Many of these students did not have people at home to help them study when they got home so I had to teach them ways to teach themselves how to study.
I have provided both group and private swim instruction to children ages 3-14 at a variety of swim levels on and off for the last fifteen years. I am certified in CPR, first aid and AED training.
