Hello all! My name is Andres and I live in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, where I am finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Supervision from Broward College. I have extensive experience in business courses ranging from economics, to accounting, to finance. Years of corporate experience has also given me real-world applications to business concepts. I previously studied at the University of Florida, where I majored in Mechanical Engineering. This gave me a solid background in mathematics and physics, two subjects I enjoy deeply.
I believe what makes me an effective tutor is my empathetic ability to pinpoint where in the student mind’s there is a block in understanding the material. I then create an alternative way to present the material so that the student can make a fundamental connection. Planning is key to studying material in a timely fashion. While setting a schedule is important to staying on track, I am open to change availability as needed. My background in engineering and inventory management have trained me to have a keen eye for details and to effectively problem-solve, so rest assured that if there is a mistake in your work, we will find and solve it together! Looking forward to working with you!
During my mechanical engineering career, I’ve studied mathematics courses ranging from calculus to differential equations to linear algebra. In each course, I excelled and even led study groups with fellow classmates. I believe the best way to excel in a mathematics course is to complete a variety of problems because generally speaking, incorrect answers usually can be traced back to a simple error in arithmetic rather than complete misunderstanding of a concept.
Physics was what initially got me interested in the hard sciences. I believe understanding physics problems boils down to utilizing the right equations and understanding the relationships between the different governing physics laws. As a student, I’ve studied statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and heat transfer.
I first studied Economics at the University of Florida for three years, where I took Introductory and Advance courses in both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, and later studied Managerial Economics at Santa Fe College. I believe my strong foundation in mathematics is what allows me to understand and explain difficult economic concepts. My experience in corporate management also provides real-world examples for students.
