About Carol

My clients have told me that I not only improved their finished written product, but, by talking through their work together, I have taught them how to become better writers. They are also happy that their voice is still heard in their writing, just in a more sophisticated way. Having taught AT English for many years, my clients are comfortable with my expertise and very satisfied with their final product.

From college and graduate school entrance essays to resumes and cover letters for employment, I can help you emphasize your strengths and be persuasive without overtly bragging. I know what admissions officials and/or prospective employers want to read. Adults seeking a different job would profit from working with me to write the perfect cover letter and update your resume'.

Because I taught primarily 10th graders who were about to take the ACT and/or SAT for the first time, I know what students need to know to do well on the ACT and SAT English and Reading tests. Also, having taught for over 30 years and having tutored for two years since my retirement, expository writing is what clients and I consider my strong suit. Grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, vocabulary, and spelling help from me will ensure a satisfying finished product that won't sound like your mother wrote it. Once again, your voice will be heard, but in a more professional, inviting way.

My graduate work after getting my Master's earned me a Secondary Education endorsement with an English minor.

Working online is my preferred method of instruction. We can be thousands of miles apart and still work on your document together. I can just proofread/edit your paper for you with no explanation as to why i made the changes I did, but I prefer to teach along with the editing so that your future writing will be improved. I love the one-on-one attention and help I can give you. Clients have said that they learned so much in such a few short hours that they will use the paper we worked on together as a template for future essays. The teacher in me loves that!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

Having taught 10th grade English for several years, I'm very familiar with the ACT English reading and writing tests. I also cover test preparation so students can enter the testing situation knowing what to expect and feeling more confident. My results have been excellent.

My students won many oratorical contests, I've directed more plays than I can count, and my policy debate team won the state championship two consecutive years. Former students are now holding leadership positions in organizations because they communicate effectively orally.
