My name is Marianne; I have been teaching for Broward County Public Schools for 4 years now; my love and passion for teaching grows each year! I am a certified Elementary (k-5) teacher as well as Secondary Language Arts (6-12); I am also Reading Endorsed, which means I specialize in research-based strategies to increase student achievement in reading comprehension, phonics, and vocabulary.
I have taught diverse learners from diverse backgrounds, so I specialize in differentiated instruction. I am a firm believer in knowing your students--that's the only way to truly know how they learn best.
In my first two years of teaching, I had a group of struggling readers; they scored in the lowest percentile of standardized language arts tests. Using the strategies I've learned and practiced, their achievement levels increased.
I love helping with writing and proofreading essay and teaching writing strategies as well, as my first love and choice of career was in creative writing!
I have been teaching and tutoring elementary school students for 2 years now. I customize and plan my tutoring sessions based on student interests; I bring materials that I feel fit the needs of each individual learner, and communicate with parents and teachers to ensure achievement levels are increasing/being met in school.
Hope you contact me soon! I would be happy to make a difference! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
