Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have an degree from MIT in engineering (transcripts and diploma are available) and used algebra extensively in designing aircraft control systems. During my sabbatical from engineering, I taught algebra at Omni Middle School in Boca Raton and at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. I am still a substitute math teacher and have tutored many students after I stopped teaching full time.

Algebra 2

I have an degree from MIT in engineering (transcripts and diploma are available) and used algebra extensively in designing aircraft control systems. During my sabbatical from engineering, I taught algebra at Omni Middle School in Boca Raton and at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. I am still a substitute math teacher and have tutored many students after I stopped teaching full time.

Computer Programming

I have been involved with computer programming since taking a FORTRAN class at MIT in 1984. I worked in aerospace for 15 years and programmed in FORTRAN, Jovial, and ADA languages. In 1990, I worked at Motorola as a software engineer and was the 1st engineer to use the "C" language for a pager. I have been involved in telecommunications since that time and computer programming has been one of my daily tasks for the past 10 years as a "Software Systems and Support Engineer" at Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

Computer Science

I have been in the computer business since graduating from MIT in 1982 and the distinction (if any) between CS (computer science) and CP (computer programming) is subtle if any exists.
Perhaps, CS engineer creates algorithms and the CP engineer implements algorithms.

As further evidence on my qualifications, I have the following 3 courses on my Master's transcript:
COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE I - CS612
COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE 2 - CS614
SELECTED TOPICS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE - CS908

Finite Math

Finite math is a broad term that means any math but calculus. I am approved in many math subjects (including calculus) so I have the necessary background to teach finite math.

I have a BS degree from MIT and I work fulltime as an engineer so I have strong math aptitude.

Prealgebra

I have an degree from MIT in engineering (transcripts and diploma are available) and used algebra extensively in designing aircraft control systems. During my sabbatical from engineering, I taught algebra at Omni Middle School in Boca Raton and at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. I am still a substitute math teacher and have tutored many students after I stopped teaching full time.

Precalculus

I excelled in math in high school and MIT. I use math everyday on my engineering job and was a high school teacher during my recent sabbatical from engineering

Statistics

I have an degree from MIT in engineering and used statistics extensively in engineering. During my sabbatical from engineering, I taught statistics in high school for 1 year. I am still a substitute math teacher and have tutored many students after I stopped teaching full time.

Very patient and adaptable to student needs.

David taught me the initial chapters I've been having issues with and cleared up a lot of confusion. I have a very particular way of learning where I need something repeated several times and to use different real life examples, and David was very patient. Hopefully with the time he dedicated to teach me I will be able to pass my final.
