In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My qualifications for graphic design:
I graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, OH in Dec of 1996 with a BFA in Advertising & Graphic Design. I have been working in my field of graphic design since Feb of 1997 when I relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL. I have hands on knowledge of the design process, typography, art direction, and the printing process from conception to completion.
The software I use is the latest QuarkXpress 9 and 10 version, Adobe Creative Suites: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Professional. I am also ADOBE ACA certified in CS5 & CS6 in Photoshop.
I have been working on Macintosh computers for over 18 years of my professional career as a graphic designer. I am very familiar with updating the software, installing software, computer freezing, force quitting programs, and finding out other useful information on a MAC. I am cross platform but I love my MAC's. I work heavily in Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office, and InDesign.

I currently work for Broward County Public Schools in the Marketing Department as a Sr. Graphics Artist. I have been in this position for the last 7 years. I create logos, brochures, catalogs, banners, direct mail, postcards, electronic ads, and specialty items.
I work closely with the photography as well. All stock images or photo shoots are set up by me as well. I love, love, love taking pictures. As a designer, photography goes hand in hand. I am good at setting up the pictures for a photo shoot as well as telling the photographer my vision as they shoot. You have to be able to select your key cover shots vs the inside layout shots. Where to have shots that fade into the background with heavy text vs focal point shots.
I love developing film, old school ways as well as cleaning up the shots in Photoshop for added effects. I love to shoot with a digital camera as well as my manual camera. There are just some things that a manual camera and film has over the digital.
