About Byron

I am uniquely qualified to tutor Law Students, Bar Applicants, AAMPLE Students, and Freshly Minted Attorneys: I was first overall in my law school graduating class, nominated (University wide) for the Rhodes Scholarship, awarded 6 book awards [the highest grade in a particular law school course], a law school commencement speaker, recipient of a full academic scholarship, first in class> both 1L and 2L, member of the U. of F. Law Review, and- by invitation only- a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Order of the the Coif, the American Judicature Society, and Savant Tutoring. I currently create and present podcasts as a lecturer and faculty member for a national CLE course provider, and for similar concerns, (while continuing my law practice) and I regularly serve as a Moot Court Justice and adviser.

My 5 star tutoring skills are well established. Very recently I was responsible for assisting one of my 1L students secure a $24,000.00 academic scholarship (not "needs based"). My student stressed that I should claim "bragging rights". It was my distinct pleasure to have worked with this scholar of the law to help achieve this outstanding honor. Student accomplishments such as this make all my hard work preparing for each session that much more fulfilling.

I have over 20 years of experience in teaching large numbers of law students in the traditional bricks and mortar setting. Also I have over 35 years teaching already experienced lawyers and paralegals in all manner of topics after they have begun their careers. I have lectured to countless other professionals as well, such as real estate brokers, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, business brokers, appraisers, construction managers at risk, engineers, sub and prime contractors, architects, condominium managers, and arbitrators/mediators. During all this time I managed an active law practice, first as a "fast track" partner at the 1800 member international law firm of Greenberg Traurig and currently as a solo commercial trial attorney in Boca Raton, Florida.

I place a very strong emphasis on helping my students acquire "exam success skills". As part of my lessons I also provide critical career counseling with the motto that it is never too early to work on a Bar application or begin networking. Many professors have never worked outside of academia. I bring outside skills, professionalism, and a keen adherence to ethical standards of conduct to the table.

My hourly rate reflects my many years of teaching experience, my substantive knowledge of the law, my experience in the day to day practice of law, and my proven teaching and tutoring skills. Rates can be negotiated when I am called upon to tutor small groups [in contrast to individual sessions].

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I am highly qualified to assist students with targeted Bar Examination topics. I can help students that are preparing for the Bar Exam in much the same 5-Star qualified manner as I teach law school subjects in law school. Please see my Wyzant Tutoring Profile for my detailed credentials.

Career Development

Through most of my career I have lectured and guided students (and newly minted attorneys) in developing and implementing career success strategies- previously geared to attorneys and summer interns at Greenberg and Traurig (18 years), included as part of my responsibilities as a professor at Nova Law School (20 years), and geared to the many CLE lectures where I have presented.

I am further qualified to provide guidance to students, through Wyzant, in the area of career success skills because I have been a law partner at a very large firm (1800 attorneys), a law partner in a medium size firm (10-20 attorneys), a partner in a boutique firm (2-3 attorneys), and a professor of law. My in-depth work at these firms and during the course of my teaching has provided me with an ample foundation upon which I draw in counseling students in the practical aspects of an active and engaged law practice.

Five primary skills (and there are many more) that I concentrate on during my sessions with my students include (1) the ins and outs of job interviews, (2) the massive changes that have occurred in the legal field in the last 20 years in the areas of hiring and compensation, and the absolute necessity of (3) networking, (4) constant communications with clients, and (5) professionalism. I teach that in these times a "book of business" (on top of excellent grades) is essential. I work with my students in goading them to start networking as early as their first year in law school, and I have developed a number of papers on career building techniques that my students can follow.

Public Speaking

In addition to the qualifications and credentials I have addressed in my Wyzant Tutoring Profile (Law) I am more than qualified to assist law students and attorneys with Public Speaking skills. This is readily shown by the fact that I have been a Law School Moot Court Competition Justice for 10 years and that I coach moot court competitors that hope to improve their public speaking abilities. I was also an officer of Moot Court when I was in Law School. In addition, I have made many appellate arguments throughout my career (not to mention both jury and judge trials). I have acquired many speaking skills over the years and hope I can have the opportunity to impart these skills to students and attorneys. I would also like to point out that, as you already probably know, public speaking is something many students (indeed most people) shy away from out of anxiety and trepidation. I can teach many methods by which such anxiety can be mitigated.

Extremely Well Versed Tutor

Byron is an amazing tutor. He has an incredible ability of making the Bar exam seem passable. I will be working with him again as many times as possible leading up to the Bar Exam. His ability to dissect essays and explain how to maximize your potential is worth the lesson by itself. However where Byron really shines is in his ability to define the terms necessary to get an above average score on
