About Olivia

Hello!

My name is Olivia. I am interested in helping students with research assignments, proposals, and reports. I have strong writing and editing skills and am available to proofread and ensure writing is in APA format.
I also enjoy helping with statistical analyses using SPSS, MPlus, and other statistical programs. I have experience running ANOVAs, regressions, correlations and many other analyses using this program (e.g., multiple imputations, MCAR tests, checking for kurtosis and outliers, descriptives). I am also available for mentoring students in their college and graduate applications (in writing essays, supplements, and deciding what university is the right fit). I am a mentor for high school and undergraduate students and ensure that applications for higher education programs demonstrate excellence.

I am a doctoral student in Experimental Psychology at Florida Atlantic University with a concentration in child development. I also work as both a research assistant (managing large datasets in SPSS and other statistical programs) and working with children and adolescents collecting behavioral data, and a teaching assistant, working with undergraduate students within a college classroom setting. Previously, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s in Psychology.

I have been interested in research writing and statistical analyses for since I was an undergraduate. Prior to starting my Ph.D, I worked as an academic tutor (specializing in Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods, Professional Writing) for college students at the University of South Florida.

Hope that I can serve as a source of help!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I currently am a Ph.d student at Florida Atlantic University. As a high school student, I applied to 14 schools and was able to get into 11 of them (including University of Chicago, Haverford). Likewise, I have experience applying to doctoral (got in 4 out of 6 programs applied) and masters programs (got in 1 out of 1 applied).

I have informally helped high school students with college counseling, optimizing their application process, assisting in essay writing and ensuring they were fully informed about this process. I have formal experience working with undergraduate students to counsel them on their career goals and graduate applications.
