Hi, my name is Bill and I have over 30 years' experience working within my chosen field of Finance. I started as a Payroll Auditor and worked into Payroll and Accounts Payable Manager. I soon progressed into the roles of Assistant Controller, Controller, Divisional Director of Finance and eventually Chief Financial Officer. I have worked with small and large corporations and then 10 years as the owner/manager of my own company with revenue in excess of 3 million dollars.
No matter what my position or whether I was working within the manufacturing or healthcare industries, training was always the key to my success. Rules and regulations change every year, and if you and your staff are not able to learn and adapt, all of your work will become questionable. I therefore allocated between 10-50 percent of my time to staff re-training. This was handled by conducting anywhere from large classes of up to 50 people over a week's time down to small one-on-one sessions in my office.
The one thing I always told my staff/students was that what you learn in school will always be a strong baseline for all of your jobs, even when you find yourself the CFO of a multimillion-dollar corporation. But to be successful, you must fully understand that training. what made it important, why is it a standard and how will it impact the company you work for. And then, when it becomes necessary, will you be able to adapt when new regulations or situations are thrown at you and still maintain the integrity of your training.
A successful training session for me is not whether you can give me the correct answer or not; but WHY was it correct and is there another possible answer. I also like to throw in some possible GAP or Federal changes and see how you would adapt your companies accounting procedures while maintaining the integrity of the accounting policy and procedures.
I am available in the afternoons and early evenings and maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy. I am retired, so I do no have an office and cannot do group sessions. But I am available to meet you at your home or at a near by public establishment.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my BS in Business Administration (Finance) in 1971. Since then I have worked within that field as an accounting supervisor, controller and finally Chief Financial Officer. With over 35 years in senior financial management positions, I have the ability to give my students a practical view of the business world and how they can apply their studies to that world.
I have been using Quicken for over 20 years for my personal finances. On January 2011 I started using QuickBooks for a client and have become very proficient with all of its features, including:
entering invoices for payment, paying invoices, writing checks, memorizing items for auto entry, Journal entries, designing and customizing reports, linking and updating bank accounts daily to bank activity, reconciling bank accounts, setup and processing payroll, customer billings, maintaining company records and administrative functions, month and year end closings, setting up and using favorites, classes, and all other functions and processes of this accounting software.
