Miami U of Ohio (Accountancy)
Having worked in accounting for many years, first in public accounting, second in business management and third as operations manager for a Fortune 500 company. I feel the need to chill and give back to future accountants and business owners.
Recently relocating to Southwest Florida and beginning a new career in daily money management, I want to fill up my available time with part-time opportunities. Tutoring is one of those ways. If I am unable to help you than there will be no fee.
I look forward to meeting and helping the new generation of business people.
I was a volunteer treasurer for The Heartbeats Jump Rope team for 7 years. QuickBooks is the software I used during those years. I am also very familiar with Sage (formerly Peachtree) accounting software.
I successfully ran a scrap metal processing company for over 20 years. The last several spent working to sell the business. I acted not only as President and Controller, but also spent time preparing schedules and providing due diligence request to potential suitors. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I practiced as a CPA in public accounting for five years and then became the Controller/President of my own company for 24 years. Once the Company was sold to a public company, I remained with the Company and became involved in the transition of accounting systems. I have significant real life accounting experience that can be helpful to new accounting students. I also like to interject humor into my teaching since accounting can be "dry".
I have multiple years using Quickbooks and Peachtree (now Sage) accounting systems. I was the Treasurer for my daughters competitive jump rope team for many years. In that time I used Quickbooks to handle all the financial reporting that was necessary to satisfy the Board. I also paid bills and recorded deposits with it. Presently, I am using Quickbooks in my newly formed business to help senior citizens with their daily finances.
