About Allison

Hello!

I have 14 years of teaching experience in various roles. I have worked as a tutor for many years and have excellent references. I also have spent time working for Early Steps as an Infant and Toddler Developmental Specialist. I pride myself in helping students make great educational games by making tutoring sessions fun and interactive. Making learning seem like a game also greatly motivates students who need extra skills the most.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I hold certification in ESE on my Florida teaching certificate. I am also certified through Early Steps as an Infant and Toddler Developmental Specialist. Through both of these, I have had extensive training in this area as well as a large amount of experience with ADD and ADHD

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified in Florida for Elementary Ed 1-6. I have 14 years experience teaching elementary grade levels in Florida public schools.

I am also certified in ESE k-12, middle grades social sciences 5-9, ESOL certified, as well as certified in birth to age 4 education. I hold my Florida DCF Dorector's Credential for child care centers as well as my VPK Director's credential.

In addition, I work for Early Steps through CMS as an infant and toddler developmental specialist.

The ESE as well as Early Step experience has also given me work experience with students with Aspergers, Autism and Dyslexia.

Study Skills

I am a Collier County Schools teacher with 14 years' experience. My current position is Early Childhood Education instructor for adult and high school students. I am also the director for the DCF licensed childcare center we have on site and the VPK teacher in one class for 3 hours a day. A lot of perfecting the art of study skills comes from organization of tasks as I am experienced in doing with my teachers. I spend a whole unit working on organization and study skills with my students in order to not just assist them in my courses, but in their other high school classes as well.
