My name is Alfredo, I am from Cuba and I was born on December 15, 1956; I graduated as a teacher of English at a university in Cuba in 1990, and I also worked there during 10 years in different levels from 7th to 12th grades. My job was always evaluated as good, where it was taken into consideration for that evaluations aspects such as the punctuality at work, relationship with my co-workers, knowledge of the subject, methods and strategies used when teaching the pupils, and promotion obtained by the pupils.
I immigrated to this country (USA) in 2000, and I knew the existence of a university in 2013, where I immediately enrolled to study the career of Master Degree of English (TESOL), and last year (exactly on June 16, 2015) I graduated from it. I have not worked as a teacher yet, because I have been looking for a job as a tutor and not as a teacher at a school; I feel more comfortable working as a tutor at any level than working as a teacher at any school, that is why that I have not applied at schools to work as a teacher.
I feel ready to teach English, Spanish, Mathematics and Geography from K to 12, and I also feel fine to teach chess, which I have been playing since I was a child, and which I have kept on playing on the Internet here, in the USA, using the Chess Titans website at the 10th level, where I have planned several matches of 100 games, and I have usually won from 40 to 45 games, and I have had from 10 to 15 draws.
I have several aspects which make me an outstanding English tutor, among those aspects that I can bring here are:
1) I am sure that I know very well the topic that I agree with the pupil to teach.
2) I am a person who is always researching, studying and analyzing old and new topics on the Internet.
3)I like to teach individually more than in large groups.
4) I am sure that I have the necessary skills, techniques, methods and strategies to perform an excellent teaching to my tutees.
One feature that makes me an outstanding Spanish tutor is that this is my native language, it means that I speak it perfectly, and second because to get graduated as a teacher of English, I had to learn everything in Spanish before.
Geography is a subject for which I feel passion; the walls of my bedroom are full of maps showing the position of all the continents, countries, oceans, rivers, gulfs, bays, mountains, lakes, islands, peninsulas, jungles, deserts, trenches, capes, etc. I want to include in this answer that I have written a website about English Grammar (I have not published it yet), and I have included the Geography topics in more than 50% in the exercises of this website.
The thing that can make me an outstanding Chess tutor is that Chess is the game which I feel in my heart, and everything that a person feels in his/her heart it will be accomplished perfectly; when a person loves what that person does, it will be done with the heart, it will be done with love. I could not be like Bobby Fisher or like Garry Kasparov, I regret that I could not be like them.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
