Hello! My name is Latoya. I am a wife and mother of three. I have been "teaching" most of my life, but professionally, I've been certified to teach since December 2014. I believe education is important, and starts at home. People learn differently, whether they are visual (seeing) learners, auditory (listening) learners, kinesthetic (touch/feel) learners or a combination, everyone is capable of learning.
I love teaching, and when a student actually understands what they're being taught, I have done my part successfully! I believe it's important to love what you're doing, and I do. Teaching is my passion, it's what I do, and what I love!
I believe it's essential to learn the basics of a subject, especially Math. Once you've mastered the basics, everything else just makes sense. Teaching basics before moving on to the next subject/topic is extremely important, I want my students to understand the basics first.
I love to read, and want everyone to have a love for reading like I do. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way, so I feel it's important for one to read what interests them. I also have my Reading Endorsement for K-12.
Before one can read, it's important to know the letters and the sounds they make. The sounds letters make, will help one to be able to figure out more than half of the English language. I'm confident in teaching these sounds.
I am currently teaching grades 6 and 7, subjects Math, Science, Social Studies, and English at a local private school. To be able to teach, you have to be willing to learn. Just because you teach others, doesn't mean one should stop learning. We can learn from others everyday if we are willing to. Let's continue learning from one another. If you are willing to receive help, I'm willing to give that help. Email me if you need any more information, or if you'd like to start being tutored. Hello! My name is Latoya. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
