My goal is to help my students not only achieve better grades, but gain enthusiasm and confidence in their academic pursuits.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from the University of Virginia, with courses in mechanical engineering and materials science, and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, giving me a comprehensive background in both the arts and sciences.

During my employment as technical support for a specialized laboratory and agriculture equipment manufacturer, I assisted individuals with a wide variety of knowledge levels, including helping students and teachers with classroom experiment design and equipment maintenance. Through this experience I learned how to effectively convey scientific information via phone, email, and other online platforms.

At the University of Virginia, I learned how to effectively communicate scientific and technical subject matter to audiences from a wide variety of backgrounds through presenting my undergraduate thesis.

At UC Santa Barbara, I worked as a tutor, assisting fellow students in improving their writing's structure, coherence, and grammar, while also maintaining a 3.4 GPA in my own writing classes. I was also able to help other students improve their grades in math and science courses which I had taken previously.

With much of my academic background in engineering and the sciences, my focus is on helping students understand and engage with their course material through accessible and practical real-world examples. I've found that students get the most out of a subject when they can see how it applies directly to their own lives.

I've always been enthusiastic about learning, and I hope to help my students find that same enthusiasm!

So helpful with a struggling student.

Christine goes the extra mile to prepare out of the tutoring time. My son was very far behind in math and she took a genuine interest in helping him learn.
