I have been a special education teacher for over 15 years and have worked with all different types of disabilities. I have also trained and mentored teachers in special ed.
I work with students and their classroom teachers to offer them support in reaching the child's full potential. I use a lot of positive reinforcement and try to make learning fun for them while at the same time teaching them important concepts. I also focus on organizational skills, which I find helps students in and out of the classroom.
I believe that any child can learn if given the proper tools and encouragement. I try to teach to their strengths while closing in on the weaker areas in order to help them become successful learners. I strongly believe that OUR children are OUR future, and we as educators have to give them the best opportunities.
I love what I do, and I try to make a difference in each child's success. My passion for teaching shines through, as I feel very fortunate to have chosen the right path for my career. Beth tutored my 5 year old daughter for the close to year. Her years of teaching was noticed right away. She really helped our daughter get the basics down, and also helped us as parents understand her learning needs. She was very patient and adaptable to our daughter's learning needs. Beth was also very flexible on scheduling. I would recommend Beth to any parent looking for a strong tutor for their child.
Beth is a great tutor. She was very patient with my daughter and gave instruction in all areas. She was able to identify improvement needs and work on them with my daughter. She really understood what my daughter needed to succeed. She is a very involved tutor and was willing to work with my daughter's teachers.
Great tutor. Excellent insight on what is needed for my son. I would recommend Beth to anyone in need of these services.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with children with all ranges of ADD/ADHD and have also done referrals. I also started a support group when I was teaching for both the children and the parents.
I have home schooled two families that had children with high functioning autism and developed instruction based upon their individual needs.
I have taught children that have dyslexia and been able to make tremendous progress with them through compensating their weaknesses and capitalizing on their auditory/visual modalities.
I am qualified to teach elementary K-6th grade. I have been teaching and tutoring students in all subject areas over 20 years and work well with all different types of children. I have also supportive in giving guidance to others as a master teacher and have been a team leader for the school. I use a lot of my own both materials to ensure that learning concepts is mastered along with meeting the requirements. I am an ESE specialist as well which helps in fine tuning skills for the regular elementary ed. students K-6th.
I have worked with students who were auditory impaired and had to make adjustments in their learning and engage them in multi sensory techniques to help master concepts.
I have a strong background in Phono visual techniques which used all five sensory channels to engage them in learning and sounding out words so they are able to transfer them to reading and writing.
My passion is working with the challenges of special needs kids and be able to see them succeed with confident and believe in themselves. I feel very comfortable in working with them and their families to build a strong foundation and a team approach to learning.
