Study Skills,

Study Skills

I have for more than 6 years been teaching study and testing skills at the University level. I teach this to freshman in a group environment at FAU as needed. I completed successfully, at University of Miami, a course on the teaching skills and methods for both study and testing skills. Many of our university students come to the college classroom with poor time management and study skills, struggling for even a "C". I have tutored students in private sessions resulting in a 1-2 grade increase. Although there is not a one skill list fits all, with individual adjustments to there approach everyone can increase their grades. Using these essential methods, when applied correctly, improve subject material comprehension resulting in improved grades. Beyond the basic when and where factors, there is a deeper level of reading and listening comprehension. Often a student hears the lecture in class and read the word in the text but fails to listen or understand the concept or statements. With practiced study skills, student frustration diminishes resulting in better comprehension and retention. Good study skills are often ignored until poor grade become a factor but it is a problem which can improve with guidance, implementation and practice.

Overly Satisfied with Louis D.

Mr. D. was 100% organized for his lesson with my son. As a parent, I was overly impressed with his knowledge of the lesson my son was struggling with. He has excellent organization skills. He never skipped a beat and took the time out to call me before his session with my son. My son and I are extremely happy that we were able to find Mr. D. as a tutor and who would think, he's local also. We are elated that we met Mr. D. and will continue to use his tutoring skills whenever needed. He not only teaches academics but gave my son wonderful coping skills. I highly recommend Mr. D.

NCLEX

Dr. Dupont has helped me find my weak areas and zero in on what I needed to focus on for my NCLEX. He is patient, kind and engaging and makes me feel confident in what I am trying to achieve. I would highly recommend Dr. Dupont as a tutor for the NCLEX.

NCLEX review

He teaches you how to look at the questions and how to read them in a different form, to stick with your answer, and never to change your answer. Whether the answer is right or wrong he asks you to explain your rationale. He also teaches and encourages to have confidence in yourself, he goes over all aspects of studying and would highly recommend him

Louis knows what he is teaching, he is very patient and he really knows how to break the lesson down so I could understand. I can't wait for my next lesson with him. A lesson with me learning new things is what I needed and a tutor who could help me with understanding the work is who Louis is. Thank you, Mr. Louis.
