Reading

The ability to read and comprehend is the most important skill our children develop in the elementary years. I believe that skill is best built as their love for reading grows. I have experience working one-on-one with elementary school students as a teacher, in-class tutor, and classroom volunteer to improve comprehension skills of children who are struggling to keep up with classroom lessons.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

I am currently a 4th grade teacher. I teach my students (both in small group and one on one) to develop a process and then to apply that process consistently. To study, it is important to have a regular, quiet place, proper materials, set time and a "plan of attack." For example, to tackle math word problems, I teach the CUBE method. I am no stranger to studying -- I have applied those skills in the not-too distant past to the required state certification exams and before that to the Certified in Management Accounting and the Certified Public Accountant series of exams.
