We are very pleased with our tutor. She has good communication with her students. She shows patience with the children and provides regular feedback. It is helpful for us to have a summary of the session and assignments.
Gail is very patient with my 4 year old son. She is working on vpk with him. He is always excited to see her!
Gail is wonderful! She is working with my son on his Spanish and has made unbelievable progress. His grades have greatly improved and continue to improve. She has been a life saver.
I am very happy to be working with her as a tutor. She is showing her the scales and the notes of her clarinet and the fingering of her notes. I hope in time she will accomplish to move up in her seating and to be ready for High School Band.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played clarinet and piano since I was in elementary school. My major in college was music education, K - 12th grade. I have taught individuals and groups both clarinet and piano in the state of Indiana and Florida as well. My playing experience includes solo performance, concert band, orchestra and church orchestra. Of late in the voluntary pre kindergarten I have expanded to teaching recorders, similar to clarinets but not quite so complex and hand bells. I am looking forward to working with some talented new clarinet students this year.
I have a degree in Music Education and am certified to teach Kdg-12 in the state of Florida. I enjoy writing lyrics and adding music to it as a hobby. Some of my rhymes and poems have been published. I have not endeavored to publish any songs. But I am thinking of writing some Christian songs for some performing friends and a sister that sings quite well as well.
I have utilized desktop publishing in school, work and for private use over the years. As a teacher of over 25 years it has proved most beneficial in my work. As a writer desktop publishing has afforded me the opportunity to create a much more finished product than I would otherwise be able to do. Incorporating photos, computer clipart, charts, and personally drawn computer graphics have greatly enhanced my work. I have taken varied classes to support my desktop publishing in high school, college and from the school corporations I have worked for. I would love to share the information and techniques I have personally discovered or been taught in classes or workshops with others.

Most computers I have owned have used a Microsoft Windows operating system in the past 20 years plus. I have enjoyed using the varied programs for both private and commercial use. I have taken a number of computer classes and workshops in undergrad and postgraduate studies, as well as through the school corporations I've worked for. This has enhanced my knowledge and performance in the use of the varied programs included on Microsoft Windows. I would enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Windows with you.
I have been certified in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in the state of Florida from 1987 to 2011. As you must know phonics is an integral part of teaching the English language in both written and spoken forms. I have taught students from kindergarten through grade twelve. The consonants, both hard and soft, along with short and long vowel sounds were taught. The silent e, digraphs and dipthongs, in addition to r controlled vowels were also addressed in my teaching. The dolch sight word lists were also an integral part of my classroom activities. The above mentioned components were incorporated in a variety of activities by myself to teach the English language. Some of these activities are: games, writing, puzzles, conversations, puppets, skits, and story telling.

In vocal music one must remember to focus on the proper techniques to use for the best results. Breathing from the diaphragm, warming up the vocal chords prior to singing and good posture are all important components of singing well and staying healthy while doing so. Ear training, learning lyrics, and vocal singing exercises are all important parts of becoming an excellent vocalist as well.
Learning to write well requires a basic understanding of sentence structure, grammar and punctuation. Then meaningful sentences may be created and utilized to tell stories or retell stories that the student has heard. Writing activities which cause the student to use his or her imagination will create an avid interest in writing and help to fine tune the skills required. Games, puzzles, flash cards and work sheets are some of the activities which can be used to practice and review the varied writing skills being addressed. A few other effective writing activities are: using picture prompts to give writing ideas, noun and verb selection bags to help practice sentence structure, and putting a scrambled sentence in order.
