Eastern Florida State College (general education)
Hello I am Sarah D. and I would like to help you with your reading and writing needs. I am currently a student at Florida Eastern State College and I have been on the Dean's list for the last two years. I am working towards my associate's degree in general education. I have taken college courses in speech, comm 1 and comm 2 and I have taken two writing courses in college.
I have volunteered at Challenger 7 as a teacher's assistant and I have tutored at Saturn Elementary for students with autism in subjects such as reading and writing. I am also a ballet teacher and a mother of five children.
I am passionate about teaching and helping children who are struggling in their school subjects. I believe in positive motivation to help improve your will to learn. I am a very patient teacher for those who struggle a little more than others. I get along well with children of all ages. As a mother of five children I have plenty of experience with different age groups and their learning difficulties, from high school students to elementary students.
I believe it takes a special understanding and connection to help students who struggle in such subjects as reading and writing. I believe that offering you with the extra help you need to get through school will help you with positive outcomes in your life from achieving a higher education, to acquiring better jobs, and living a positive family life and maintaining a high self confidence. Four of my five children are honor students in reading due to their learning skills and my help. I enjoy working with children and getting to know you as an individual.
I have a high tolerance for groups of all ages of children. I relate easily to young children and I am very alert to the fact that children learn in different ways. I have also taken a college course in the different learning styles of a student. I am sensitive to each child's individual needs and will assist you according to your personal needs. I encourage you to embrace your abilities, even those that you may struggle with. Learning should not be a constant, uphill battle, to the point of giving up. I want to reach out to those who struggle and help students look at learning in a positive way.
If you are a student who has a hard time in reading and writing, understand that you are not alone and there are services and people out there who want to help. I have several learning tools for reading tools. I try to make learning fun without the outside pressures of other students or distractions. Reading and writing can be fun with the right approach, and you can overcome your personal struggles.
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule a meeting to assess your needs, or schedule lessons.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken two college courses in writing where handwriting is crucial to the final outcome of my grade. I pride myself on legible print and cursive writing. I have worked with my children and their handwriting skills as well.
