I was an elementary school teacher until I had my son in June 2010. I am now a stay-at-home mom who focuses on teaching my little one. I am married and besides our son, we also have 2 dogs.
I have taught Kindergarten, 3rd grade-varying exceptionalities, and 5th grade-Gifted. I enjoy teaching very much and miss my students. This is why I want to tutor, both to keep my mind sharp and to continue working with children.
During college, I tutored students K-12 and also SAT Prep.
My tutoring philosophy is this: I recognize that some students just do not understand what is being taught in their classroom. I try to find ways to get through to the students in their "language". For students who just need a boost or need to be challenged, I like to find techniques to assist those children as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my degree in Elementary Education from Florida Gulf Coast University and I am certified to teach in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama.
