Art institue of ft. lauderdale (Graphic Design)
My name is Tara and I've been an artist my whole life. After graduating with a bachelors degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in 2005, I decided to take the more traditional approach to being an artist instead. Over the years I have mostly done commission works for various clients. I have also done some illustration work for magazines and books.
I am currently an art instructor for an after school program for kids to learn art. I teach elementary school students a couple days a week and mostly deal with 2nd - 5th grade students. In those classes, our goal is to teach children that anyone can draw and it also helps to build confidence in the students. We believe in the program we teach. This is the most rewarding part of my career being an artist!
Since I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, I have been trained to use many different mediums and many different styles. Currently I mostly work with pen and ink, watercolor, colored pencil, pastel and acrylic. My skills are in my drawing abilities/illustration as that is where my personal focus as an artist lies. I also love to paint and my preferred medium is watercolor and acrylic.
Over the many years of being an artist the most exciting part for me was when I became an art teacher. I love helping kids with art and I love encouraging them to embrace their creativity. As I did not have an art teacher until I attended college, I love the fact that I can help young aspiring artists in the prime of their youth. I am also open to teaching older kids and adults. It's never too late to learn how to be an artist! Please contact me with any questions you may have. My name is Tara and I've been an artist my whole life. Tara has been teaching my daughter how to draw for several weeks now, and I'm so impressed! She's such a great teacher.... very patient, encouraging, and has taught my daughter so much in such a short time.
She explained mixing colors, highlights and other techniques that were very helpful. She teaches you at your level. She relates well, good teacher, friendly patient, kind and considerate.
Thank you I had a lot of fun! I look forward to our next lesson!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
