My name is Jared and I love to inspire others to reach their highest potential. I have been gifted with an optimistic attitude that'll benefit any student who feels helpless. I'm all about creating an atmosphere that best suits your needs in whatever subject you may be struggling with.
I'm currently a Substitute Teacher for Lake County Schools and I work mainly with the middle school age group. I love being a substitute because not only do I have a chance to meet some very gifted individuals, but I get a taste of what it will be like when I have my own class of students one day. I've been in classrooms so frequently over these past 2 years that I have students who recognize me out in public as "their favorite Substitute Teacher." It's a great experience that I wouldn't trade for a million dollars.
With time and cooperation, I believe we can overcome any struggle in life.
Being a Substitute Teacher for middle school, I've seen the range of math skills students have been learning. I'm proficient in Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic, systems of equations, inequalitites, quadratic equations, ratios and proportions, and Algebra II.
I'm proficient in Biology, Anatomy, health and medicine.
I have completed courses leading up to College English II and Creative Writing. I've been studying the Bible since I was born, and actively participate in a weekly Bible Study. I've proofread many papers for my students including college essays. I excelled in my Public Speaking course, using the knowledge I gained for weekly appearances in my church's Children's ministry.
I own a Macbook Pro laptop and consistently work with Microsoft PC. I'm proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, Macintosh Operating systems, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and Logic Express.
I served as a long-term substitute for 8th History at Gray Middle School for 1 month.
I've been singing since I was 2 years old and performing since 5. I've had many solos in my elementary years, including a recurring role as Santa for my elementary school. I was in Choir for all 4 years of high school, and 1 year of college. I've taken singing lessons and have taken courses on singing technique, music theory, sight-reading, and tonal harmony.
I played football all throughout high school. I played as an Offensive and Defensive Lineman, Special teams lineman, and once as a kicker for my J/V team. I learned tennis when I was 7, and competed on the tennis team in high school for 2 years. I'm an avid Ultimate Frisbee player, and played on a league in college.
I studied Theater all 4 years of high school, and I was also in a local theater production of "Lil Abner" in 2009. I've also been involved in the children's ministry drama team at my church for the past 7 years.
I aim to work with students, whatever their situation, in achieving their goals and beyond. Let's work together to keep you moving forward. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
