I love to be part of the learning process and growth that takes place as students gain understanding. I tutored (homeschooled) my four sons for 17 years, and actively taught in a homeschool cooperative of 100 families. I love the efficiency of the tutoring process, and find that the best time to get help is as soon as something doesn't make sense. My students leave our tutoring sessions with increased skills and confidence.

ACCOUNTING: I was an accounting teaching assistant in college, have worked in public accounting (tax departments) for eight years, have done bookkeeping for a small business for sixteen years, and have tutored college accounting for almost three years. These varied experiences have given me the ability to efficiently convey accounting vocabulary and concepts in a way that students appreciate and value.

MATHEMATICS: I hold a Texas Teacher's Certificate in Secondary Mathematics (middle and high school). I coached a team of "mathletes" in the middle school Mathcounts competition, and taught numerous math classes in a homeschool cooperative for many years. There are many ways to "look at" and solve math problems, so I aim to instill flexibility in thinking and problem solving.

ESL/ESOL: My specialization is in assisting adults improve their Business English skills. As an accountant for over 30 years, I am familiar with "the language of accounting", which is "the language of the business world". In addition, I recently completed an 11-week certification program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Although I do not have specific experience in teaching ESL/ESOL, I believe I would be very effective in tutoring Business English, or even tutoring Business topics to students for whom English is a second language.
