University of South Florida (Mass Communication- Journalism)
Northeastern University, ongoing... (MEd)
Hello! My name is Sarah. I was born and raised in Brooksville and have had a love for English and Reading since I was in Elementary school. I graduated from the University of South Florida with my Bachelors in Mass Communication- Journalism. My education included extensive studying of the English language varying from general pronunciation/spelling, proper use of punctuation to dissecting great works of literature to be able to write a review of the piece. While in college, I worked in various positions where I mentored, tutored, and reviewed student's work whether it was for a basic English Comp class or a 15 page American Politics paper. I worked with college students again after I graduated in a more corporate role helping students enroll in college. I love working with and helping students succeed. After having children, I decided to leave corporate work. I still wanted to make an impact on student's lives so I started tutoring again. I have been tutoring for the ACT/SAT for over a year now and am very familiar with test score requirements and best practices. While I specialize in English and Reading, I have also tutored students on the math and science portions of the test. I am a very outgoing person and am excited to continue helping the youth in my community!

Sarah has great knowledge of SAT test taking skills. She is dedicated in tutoring reading and vocabulary areas of the SAT. She is committed to her students. I would highly recommend Sarah for your tutoring needs!
She sets up excellent test taking strategies for the ACT and SAT, and breaks down all of the information so that it is easy to understand.
We've only had one session, but Sarah seems to be well educated & extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of education. She is tutoring us for the ACT /SAT exams.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over 3 years' experience working with college freshmen as well as helping them apply and become acclimated to college. I proofread and edited fellow students' work while in college, in classes ranging from English Comp I to American & World Politics.
I worked for over a year as an Admissions Representative with a Design College helping students choose the right degree path as well as navigating the financial aid process. I also worked with students as Graduate Student Adviser helping them to figure out which graduate level entrance exam they needed to take to get into their desired Grad Program. I worked with college Freshmen in the dorm helping them to transition to college life educationally and socially. I mentored students helping them with their homework as well as weighing the pro's and con's of a campus organization they were thinking of joining. I also counseled them when being away from home or the pressures of college life were becoming too great.
I earned my Bachelor's in Mass Communication-Journalism so I have extensive knowledge of the English language. While in college, I tutored elementary grade students through a church program in writing and reading. After college, I took the necessary steps to become a substitute teacher for Elementary School students. I also helped to teach my nieces and nephews when they were in elementary school. I currently have a daughter that I am homeschooling who is in the Pre-school stage so I am familiar with younger grade level education.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication- Journalism from the University of South Florida. The classes I took required extensive analyzing of public speaking practices so that we could best report the news. These practices included body language, voice inflection/projection, presentation of information, verbally citing sources, and professional appearance. I have spoken to groups of people ranging from 3 people to over 400 people. The speaking engagements have been professional, educational, skill building and ceremonial. I currently train Election Workers on a regular basis speaking to classes of 30 people several times a day for a couple weeks prior to each election.
