Hi! My name is Megan M. I am a 2013 Manatee High school graduate, a 2016 State College of Florida graduate, and a currently enrolled University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee student! I am currently enrolled in the Elementary education program at USFSM and am looking forward to graduating this December with my Bachelors Degree. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have a love for learning, a passion for growing, and a love for children. I have been substituting in Manatee County for the 2018-2019 school year and absolutely fell in love with truly being able to give students the push they need to be the very best version of themselves. I have an Early Childhood background as well--that was my focus at Manatee High School. Children are my passion, and I truly love to help them gain an understanding of the world around them.

Being a part of the education community, there are certification tests we must take in order to become a teacher. With that being said, I have passed the Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies subsets for the Florida Teachers Certification Examination (FTCE). Also, being a substitute teacher and an intern in schools, I have had to teach math for grades Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. I have a love for problem solving and enjoy working with numbers.

Science is my favorite subject! I love the science behind everything; the ocean, space, and anything that encompasses science. As a fifth grade intern back in my spring of 2018 semester, I was able to teach the science block and absolutely loved doing projects with the students. I have a depth of knowledge when it comes to the world around us, and I believe that students learn through inquiry based learning--meaning the more questions they ask about the world around them, the more they learn.

Reading is my second favorite subject! I believe that is it of the utmost importance to be a strong reader because it is a skillset that is needed in the real world for any job. I have experience as a

Due to being an intern in Manatee County, I had to use Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to write lesson plans. I also have had to create Arts Integrated lesson plans, and Unit Themed lesson plans using the CCSS. Furthermore, as a substitute within Manatee County, I have had to implement other teachers' lesson plans which were aligned to CCSS.
