University of South Florida (Communication)
Grand Canyon University (Master's)
I am a reading teacher at a local high school in Palm Beach and I work with many ESE and ESOL students. I mainly teach re-take 11th and 12th grade students who have yet to pass the FSA in order to graduate, however I also teach 9th and 10th grade as well. I have a very high graduation rate and most of my students go on to college.
I graduated from The University of South Florida and received a degree in Communication. After working in the non-profit world for five years I then decided to go back to school and get my teachers certification. In 2013 I graduated from Grand Canyon University with my Master’s in Education (with a specialization in reading). As a reading specialist I am experienced in teaching and tutoring children with varying abilities and have worked with children with ASD as well as dylexia and dysgraphia.
I currently hold a permanent teachers license in the state of Florida and I am endorsed in English (6-12) and Reading. I have been tutoring privately for over five years and have taught children from Kindergarten to College. I regularly tutor students for the ACT and SAT for both English, Reading and Writing as well as for the FSA and PERT tests. My teaching and tutoring motto is to create future leaders and citizens and I focus on the whole child (motivation etc.).
I am available to tutor from 4 pm Mondays to Friday and upon request on the weekends. I do not mind traveling to your home or meeting in a public place. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
