Everglades University (Alternative Medicine)
Hello, my name is Misty. I have 3 children of my own that I tutor, one is a special needs child. They are all unique in their learning styles. I often help their friends and the neighborhood kids as well, all of them are either elementary or middle school children. I worked for America Reads at the YMCA after school program for 2 years, so I am used to one on one sessions as well as a group.
I attend Everglades University, am working towards a Bachelor of Science in Alternative Medicine, and will graduate in March 2015 I currently maintain a 3.5 GPA. I feel it is of the utmost importance to show children that they do have the intelligence and power to solve any academic challenge they may have.

Research: knowing where to look for the answers to the questions not only teaches independence, it always gives confidence.

I know every child can learn; we sometimes just have to figure out what style works best, as we are all different.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently enrolled in college to obtain a bachelors degree in Alternative Medicine. Herbology and Botany as well Herbal Medicine Chest are part of the curriculum. I earned an A in Herbal Medicine Chest and a high B in Botany. Both classes require knowledge of Origin, Active Ingredients, Pharmacological Effects, Chemical composition, Species, Family and Common name.
I worked for America Reads as a volunteer at the Boynton Beach YMCA for 2 years, in the aftercare program. I also have and still do tutor my own children as well as their friends and neighborhood children.
