For almost 20 years I've been involved in graphic and web design. Recently, I've decided to focus on Mac users who wish to use their Macs and Apple applications and devices more efficiently.
I got my start when I worked for a year at a local Apple store where I was noted for my patience and many of our senior customers became my students. I have the ability to see what's going on from my student's perspective.
I enjoy the efficiency of Apple applications and sharing the feature rich use of applications such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Apple Mail, iPhoto, and iTunes. I also tutor on the use of the Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint are also on my list of efficiencies. I am a Microsoft Office Specialist, certified for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Tutoring others is what I enjoy as well as seeing the "aha" moment when my students find clarity as they develop their computer skills. I am not only patient but I also realize every person is different and starts at different skill levels. So I tutor people of all ages with a variety of skill levels. Carol was very professional and very thorough and easy to understand. I learned a lot in our session and was very pleased with the overall experience.
Carol discovered that my account is somewhere in the cloud and before moving forward to full set up, Apple has to take care of the problems. Very easy to work with Carol!
It was a delight having Carol in our home and even more pleasurable to have a lesson from her. What a teacher she is! So patient and professional. She possesses that rare combination of knowledge, skill and communication. Thank you, Carol.
As an experienced graphic designer, I decided that I needed to add to my skill set. Carol is helping me get focused on web design and work flow.
She has helped me reach a new level of technical understanding with just a few lessons. Carol M. is a great tutor and a great person. I am thankful that I found her at this point in my career.
My session was the fastest two hours I have ever spent. I learned a lot, but there is a ton to learn and I am looking forward to these lessons.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an experienced Macintosh enthusiast with over 20 years experience. I have been an Apple retail employee and taught many new and experienced users to use the Mac and various Apple software products. I manage to keep current on the features of the Mac and Apple software (iWork: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) thru regularly published podcasts and videos that update users on the various features. Over the past 15 years I've even become efficient in diagnosing hardware problems although I mostly am an applications user. I love the Mac; can you tell?
Microsoft Office Excel Certified
I am certified for Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, which is very similar to PowerPoint 2010 and 2013. I primarily assist Macintosh users in creating presentation in Keynote and then convert to PowerPoint. This is especially important if others will be editing the presentation on a PC.
