southeast mo. state university (Math)
Hi! My background includes teaching Math in Florida and Missouri Public School Systems for over 14 years. I am certified in grades 6-12 and have experience teaching the following courses in middle and high schools: Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I have been tutoring one-on-one and in after school programs for 10 years. I thoroughly enjoy the one-on-one interaction and having those “aha” moments that we can both celebrate.
I am currently a guest math teacher with the Collier County School District. My volunteer experience with students is extensive. I volunteer by mentoring high school students that are in the Lee County Take Stock in Children Program, as well as tutoring middle/high school students in New Horizon’s After School Program in Bonita Springs. I have also been involved in the Big Brother Program for years.
My experience prior to teaching is in the Information Systems area where I worked for a major corporation for over 25 years. This experience in the business world allows me to use real world applications for the math that I teach and enables me to make math more interesting to students.
I have very flexible hours on weekends and after school. Let me help your student enjoy math again. I look forward to hearing from you. Hi! Kent is very patient and really cares about his students. My son is feeling more confident about Geometry and is no longer struggling. He is excited about his grades and can't wait to share them with Kent. He looks forward to their weekly sessions. We are so happy we found such a wonderful tutor!
He helped me with algebra 1. I'm very happy to have had Mr. Kent. He explains very clear and he's awesome! I understood everything he taught me and he was very patient.
Patient and clearly he has experience with teaching high school students. My child has a great deal of anxiety with tests and Kent has been able to assist in this regard. He knows when the student has absorbed what they can in each session and does not push it.
He has lots of patience. We'll see how the next few lessons go and hopefully she'll get the knowledge she needs to do well this semester.
Kent helped my son, with his understanding and encouraged him to be more confident in the foundational knowledge he already possesses.
Kent was a big help as usual for my child. She's learning more each session. Algebra 2 is getting easier for her.
He helped me review strategies and formulas that are necessary to complete the algebra 2 course and helped me review for my final. i like that he had his own book and was very knowledgeable in the subject.
Kent is very knowledgeable and he makes math very easy to learn. He has been a great tutor with both of my kids, in middle and high school. I highly recommend Kent to anyone needing a tutor.
Kent clarified a step in my calculations where I had been consistently making an error. I can solve problems easily now.
Kent helped my 14 year old understand why he was messing up some of his Algebra, and gave him a refresher on some previous lessons he had forgotten and was confused about. I was very satisfied with Kent's ability to keep my son on task.
Kent helped me solve an algebra problem I had difficulty with, algebraic functions, geometry functions, fraction, scales, probability and odds..
Kent reviewed pre algebra to help prepare my daughter for algebra next year and made the learning simple and fun. Will definitely contact him again when either of my children need help with Math.
Kent has been so very easy to work with and my son enjoys his time learning. Kent replies quickly and returns calls quickly also! It is a pleasure working with him! He is energetic, funny and knows how to teach in a cool way! My 10th grade son has an A in Geometry! So we are happy!
After the first semester our son has a solid A ! Kent is great!
I really enjoy working with Kent. He is responsive and easy going. More importantly, my son looks forward to the geometry tutoring sessions as Kent helps him understand it. I highly recommend Kent!
My daughter liked Kent a great deal. He was very patient and very professional. He was always on time and very flexible with our schedule.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
