DePaul University (Elementary Education)
I am currently a teacher for Palm Beach County Schools. I've been teaching for six years and have taught pre-school, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Last year I received a "High Impact Teacher Award" from the state of Florida for the exceptional growth my students in my 4th grade class had. I've been tutoring for almost 10 years now and love helping students gain confidence.
I have success with my math students because I use creative approaches. I adapt all my lessons to the child's needs. I am familiar with all grade level mathematic standards and can also help students prepare for their upcoming school year by giving them head starts on the curriculum.
I enjoy teaching students foundations of writing as well as essay writing and have success by guiding them through their work step by step, and with enjoyable topics. I also work with students on their reading and have experience from teaching kids how to read to helping older students synthesize and go beyond basic comprehension questions.
Common Core may be challenging, but in the long run it's teaching students to be critical thinkers. I am very familiar with the Common Core standards and can help your child become more confident with some of the more challenging of these standards.
Overall there is nothing more that I love than teaching Elementary aged children. I adore watching them grow and make improvements. I have huge gains with all students I work with, and I can help your child in any area of Elementary education they need.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching and tutoring common core for years now, and I'm not only knowledgable on these standards, but also confident. I know how challenging they can be for students and I have strategies and ways to help students achieve success.
I went to school for Elementary Education and have an Elementary Education certificate. I've been teaching for a total of 6 years now including tutoring outside of school hours.
