I am an experienced teacher as well as former assistant principal in charge of foreign languages. I am licensed to teach French, Spanish and Italian. I also have a license in Supervision/Foreign Languages. I have 15 years of formal experience in teaching French, Spanish, Italian and ESL as well as supervision of the Foreign Language Department as Assistant Principal in the NYC Board of Education. I served as test examiner for the NYC Board of Education in which I examined potential teachers of French and Spanish. In addition, I served as consultant to book publisher DC Heath and evaluated and wrote portions of French and Spanish text books. When my children were born, I decided to stay home to raise them and left the public schools. I continued to tutor and teach privately and have continued to do so for the past 20 years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
