Motivation and experience: I am the child of Italian immigrants and English was not my first language. I struggled in grammar school, but eventually graduated college with honors and a year early. This instilled a mission to help others who were limited by language or learning disabilities of various types. I have tutored autistic twins, emotionally disturbed children, and even children of new immigrants for a major corporation. Strengths: I empathize with the challenges children face in learning. I am well educated with a master's degree and 42 additional graduate credits. I am Florida State Certified in school psychology, reading, learning disabilities and a number of K-12 specialties. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
