About Lillian

I am an experienced math teacher with a passion for learning. I believe that any student can understand and be successful in Math. I am easy to work with and make learning fun!

I have taught high school math for eight years now as well served as an adjunct professor teaching College Algebra at a nearby college. I received my Master's degree from the University of Southern California in May 2012 in Teaching as well as my Bachelors' degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Mathematics. I currently teach a variety of subjects at Lake Wales High School, and coach there as well.

I have been tutoring students for over 10 years in mathematics, mainly in Algebra 1 and 2, geometry and Precalculus. However, I also have experience tutoring calculus, trigonometry, and discrete mathematics. Additionally, I have experience teaching and tutoring SAT Math, as I was an instructor for a prep class in North Carolina before I moved to obtain my Master's degree and at my current job. I look forward to working with any student no matter the skill level.

I have also coached track and field for the past four years and ran at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently, I coach high school volleyball and basketball.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have tutored algebra 1 for over 10 years and am very knowledgeable of the content and what is needed to pass in an end of course exam in algebra 1

Algebra 2

I am currently teaching Algebra 2 at a local high school.

Calculus

I have taught AP Calculus AB three years ago and had a passing rate of 80% and have taught the higher level IB Math Classes for the last two years with a passing rate of 90% which curriculum includes topics from the AP Calculus AB curriculum.

Geometry

I have taught every year I have been teaching high school. I have above a 90% pass rate on the EOC each year I have taught Geometry and I know how to make it fun and enjoyable for students.

Precalculus

I have taught Precalculus for four out of my seven years of teaching. I know the curriculum very well and have tutored students in the subject for about 5 years.

SAT Math

I have tutored many students to improve their tests scores and all have seen an increase (between 5-10 points on the ACT and about 200-350 on the SAT) I provide lots of resources to help in a student's study patterns as well as multiple explanations and strategies.

Track & Field

I have coached Track and Field for the past four years at two of the top ranked High Schools in North Carolina. I ran track during high school and during my undergrad career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I specialized in sprints and horizontal jumps however I have experience coaching long distance as well as vertical jumps and throws. I truly love the sport and am dedicated to anyone who is interested in learning what it is about and how running can actually be enjoyable!

Trigonometry

Even though I haven't taught a Trigonometry class I have used and taught sections of Trigonometry while teaching Geometry and Precalculus. I am very knowledgeable of the content and feel that I can assist students taking Trigonometry with whatever content they need help with.

Very Knowledgable and patient

Lillian was a great tutor one of the best I've ever had. She was very patient with me explained the problems in a way where I could understand it. I was taking a grad level stats class and before I met Lillian I almost gave up on the class she really helped me through it. Lillian is the type of tutor that knows herself and is really all about helping the student as opposed to just being in it for
