I have experience in both teaching and tutoring. I have been teaching at all levels of education:K-12, college, and Adult Basic Education. My field of experience has allowed me to work in Venezuela, The United States and China. I love sharing with my students the little I know. Not only about the languages I teach per se, but about the cultures of the people with which I have com in contact, as well . I love languages and I love travelling. I am bilingual (Spanish-English) with a limited knowledge of Chinese and Italian. I am currently learning, Hebrew and Portuguese ( two of my children are married to people with those nationalities and my grandchildren will speak those languages). I have been in 36 countries so far. I believe cultures are the backdrop of languages.
Something I would like to share with you, right from the beginning, is about my upbringing, I was, If not the poorest, one of the poorest at my school during my elementary school years and beyond. And, as unbelievable as it may seem,-poverty after poverty- I was able to climb the ladder of success. This piece of information, among many others, I would like to share with my "tutorees", to infuse in them the desires to reach their goals and be better citizens of the world, so that their parents and country be proud of them.
I have the expertise to do this job. My experience teaching English as a Second Language and Spanish in three countries (Venezuela, The USA, and China) and at all levels of the educational system, gives me a solid background to say that. In Venezuela, I worked two years at High School setting an 24 in college teaching ESL. In Minnesota, I worked at the School District 742 in a k-12 environment, working immigrants from Mexico and Central America;and in China, I worked at Tianjing Foreign Studies University, teaching ESL and Spanish, As you can see, the experience and expertise lies there. Being a learner of different languages is another asset in my favor.
The man who knows no foreign language knows nothing of his mother tongue, That was said by Goethe, a famous German philosopher. I agree with him. I know Spanish and English, not only because, in the case of Spanish, it is my native language but because I have studied it in depth and at length to teach it. The same could be said about my knowledge of the English language.
Well, I do not want to sound "show off" or conceited but if I were a parent looking for a good tutor for my children, I would choose someone with my profile.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
