About Sharon

I have my bachelors degree from Eastern University in Psychology, masters degree in Elementary Special Education, a year of doctoral work at the University of the Rockies, and am currently enrolled at Capella University working on my Masters in Psychology with a concentration in ABA.

I have a huge heart for working with kids of all ages, but have a special drive for those with more struggles than the average student. My past work experience includes teaching severely disabled students at the high school level, teaching middle school urban students, as well as children with moderate special needs at the middle school level.

I have worked with all kinds of children, worked with typical early childhood students, and have tutored various aged students.

My clinical experience includes Applied Behavior Analysis, verbal behavior, behavior modification practices, and social skill training.

I have worked with all kinds of students at all different levels. I thrive on differentiated instruction to meet the students particular needs.

Differentiated instruction is key. I am a very patient person and am sensitive to the needs of children with special needs.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I have worked with children ages 2-21 for a total of 10+ years doing behavior modification, ABA therapy, discrete trial practices, and educational techniques. I'm currently enrolled in a psychology master's degree program with a concentration in ABA. I have worked in emotional support classrooms as the Behavior interventionist. Many of these “emotional” children have severe cases of ADHD and other disabilities

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have worked with autistic children ages 2-21 for a total of 10+ years doing behavior modification, ABA therapy, discrete trial practices, and educational techniques. I'm currently enrolled in a psychology master's degree program with a concentration in ABA.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified in Delaware K-6th in all grades. I have worked with students ranging from ages 2-21. I worked as a long term substitute for two 6th grade classrooms, both lasting approximately 6 months.

Handwriting

Most of the students I work with have difficulty with writing for one reason or another. I have helped run “handwriting without tears” with a few clients and other handwriting practicing activities.

Special Needs

I have worked with autistic children ages 2-21 for a total of 10+ years doing behavior modification, ABA therapy, discrete trial practices, and educational techniques. I'm currently enrolled in a psychology master's degree program with a concentration in ABA.
