I would like you to know that I will provide an experience to help you with your educational needs, which utilizes your personal and academic strengths and one that will help us to work together to design a plan that helps you to learn by meeting your needs.
My education and experiences include a degree in Human Services, a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and experiences teaching elementary students while in graduate school at a stellar center in my state and, 16 years of experience within a youth agency as a youth worker and then as a Childcare Director. In addition, I worked as a paraprofessional at the beginning of my career, while raising 4 children, working with special needs students teaching reading, math and additional subjects. My style is a "down-to-earth" way of connecting with children and their families. My goal is to help you, the student, to gain trust as you get to know me and to help you to understand that it is only with your willingness to work with me, that I will be able to progress and be supported in your learning and academics.
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Delaware (LPCMH). I have helped many children and their families to work on their specific diagnoses, understanding strengths and needs, and then coordinated services within the academic setting in order to fully help my client, the child/student. I will patiently work with you so that you feel understood about how you learn and help you to feel more confident about your educational experience.
I welcome you to contact me at your earliest convenience so that we can start planning for an improved personal and academic experience for you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
