For the last three years I have been working as a private and class tutor for all sections of the SATs, including the essay. I have been working for a nonprofit SAT tutoring camp where I have worked with students with scores ranging from 900-2100 out of 2400 on the old SAT and 800-1400 on the new SAT. I have raised scores usually between 200 to 400 points. I enjoy taking on all kinds of students in the high school age range, changing my approach to the student's needs, and adjusting what we work on according to the student's strengths and weaknesses. I enjoy employing the Socratic method which involves leading the student toward an epiphany instead of telling them what to do or simply giving them the answer. I am passionate about working with students' strengths, building their self-confidence, and working with them collaboratively to achieve their goals.
I recently completed my second master's degree in professional counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and am currently working as a therapist in Chester, PA. I am skilled with working on interpersonal issues and balancing the stressors of the outside world with the importance of improving SAT scores and grades. I can also advise on college admissions and applications and have extensive knowledge of scholarships, school qualifications, and researching for your application. Feel free to contact me so that we can work out lesson schedules. I am an active, dedicated, and passionate tutor and I am sure we will enjoy our time together and get a lot of work done. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
