Tutoring is about the growth of the student. I specialize in helping students realize their goals in reading, writing, grammar, and study skills. I have five years of teaching experience and am dual-certified in both English Language Arts and as a Library Media Specialist. My Master's of Instruction degree from the University of Delaware and teaching at the secondary level have provided me with knowledge of diverse instructional strategies and individualized instruction.
From working with all different types of learners, I have many tips to help students become organized, stay engaged, improve comprehension, analyze texts, and communicate effectively. I am patient, creative, and innovative. And, most importantly, I love to teach. My goal as a tutor is to complement the classroom instruction with related and engaging lessons and activities. We’ll work hard, but we’ll have fun!
While my main area of focus is English Language Arts, I can help with other subjects in the humanities, as well as study skills, SAT prep, and college essay writing. I am available Monday through Thursday after 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
