Hello! My name is Jessica and I graduated from the University of Delaware and have received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education and a minor in Disabilities Studies. My interest in becoming a tutor is based upon a desire to work one-on-one with students to meet their individual needs.
In the spring of 2012, I student taught in Colonial School District and at The College School, which is a part of The University of Delaware. I was able to grow immensely as a teacher, professional, and person during my time as a student teacher in both a third grade special education classroom and first grade general education classroom. I gained a great grasp on the curriculum used across all subjects.
I also have a lot of experience with teaching students with various learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral needs, and severe and moderate disabilities. Overall, my previous teaching experiences have provided me with a concrete understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and expectations that one must hold in order to be a strong and successful teacher and tutor. I would like nothing more than to have the opportunity to show case my skills by working with you and your child. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
