AutoCAD has become my preferred study and practice since earning an Architectural and Engineering Technician degree at a Twin Cities technical institute during the mid 80s. I also became a returning education participant from 2005 through 2007 while attending the University of Wisconsin in pursuit of an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree, where I made the Dean's List and achieved a Phi Theta Kappa standing during the process. Having had an avid interest in computers during most of my adult life, I also develop and write code in several different languages, mainly Autodesk's built in programming language and Microsoft's Visual Basic, to enhance the production of architectural plans. I would enjoy sharing some of this knowledge with students entering the profession or seasoned CAD Operators wishing to enhance their present skills.
My tutoring experience began while attending St Paul Technical vocational Institute in Minnesota where I was approached by campus personnel due to my exceptional abilities in Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. Our graduating class was the very first to receive two full years of CAD instruction on a 3D capable mainframe network system during the transition from board to computer drafting. Since then I have worked in the field of architectural drafting beginning with a position in Space Planning for a metropolitan developer of commercial properties. I eventually progressed on to become the primary CAD Operator for a reputable architectural firm in suburban Detroit. Due to my level of expertise I became highly advanced over the span of my career in 3D presentation in both AutoCAD and more recently Revit.
I recommend you not just 'float' into the profession with average abilities, but rather take those steps required to gain a competitive edge within the industry. I am currently available for sessions requiring travel within twenty five miles or so from Seaford, Delaware or during scheduled meetings at a local campus. Let's get going on that road to success. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My training in Revit spans from release 2009 thru 2014. I am a new user to Revit but have over ten years of extensive 3D practice in AutoCAD, so the transition went rather smoothly. So far I have not worked with Revit in a network setting, sharing files with other users. Some examples of my practice in Revit can be viewed upon request along with a single page of AutoCAD drawings produced during a five year tenure at an architectural firm in metropolitan Detroit.
