In my 24 years of teaching high school mathematics, I have always focused on developing understanding of the math concepts, not just memorizing procedures. The best part of working with students is when I see the "lightbulb" go on!

From early on in elementary school I loved math, and became acutely aware that the general population did not. I could see that many people I came into contact with had developed a sort of "brick wall" between themselves and anything related to mathematics. So when I became a teacher my primary mission was to chip away at least one brick out of the wall for every student who entered my classroom.

I have kept that mission through teaching high school math for 10 years in Maryland and 14 additional years in Delaware. I scored in the 90+ percentile on all sections of the National Teachers Exam, and earned a certificate from ETS for my superior high score on the Praxis exam for Mathematics Content Knowledge. Throughout my career I engaged in extensive professional development including brain-based learning, learning-focused teaching, Kagan engagement strategies, and problem-based instruction (to name a few); and I earned a Masters degree in Mathematics Education.

Over the years, I have taught PreAlgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, PreCalculus, Integrated Math levels 1-4, and most recently a dual-enrollment course (partnered with Delaware State University) in Trigonometry. I am a beloved teacher who has been nominated for Teacher of the Year multiple times.

I can help you learn math! Contact me to schedule a lesson in any high school math content area, or even SAT prep. I am available evenings and weekends to fit your schedule.
