I have about 4 years of experience in teaching and tutoring. I am certified in Montessori teaching. I worked at a private school for 2 years teaching English and history subjects. This was for grades 6 -12.
My tutoring experience is in elementary and middle school reading and math. I worked for a year in each setting. I did not tutor in math on an elementary level, but I am comfortable with doing so.
I enjoy tutoring because I find fulfillment in helping others. There is no greater feeling than witnessing the "Aha!" moment. I think a lot of tutoring is just unlocking the potential that is already there. I am creative and fun and I like to incorporate that in my teaching and tutoring.
I taught English literature and grammar classes to students in grades 6-12 in a private school; I did reading interventions on the elementary level; and I tutored in these subjects at a middle school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
