About Stephanie

Hello!

Thank you for considering me to assist you with your math and computer needs. My most effective tool in helping you address your math challenges is patience! I know you are smart enough to get it, I just need to help you realize that too.

My patience and passion for math have been developed from my studies in Engineering and Business Information Systems; I have also done graduate-level work in project management and leadership and served in the leadership of multiple non-profits. As a consultant, tutor and business coach, I provide you with the tools and skills in math to support your success.

I am currently an adjunct instructor at Wilmington University teaching college algebra and statistics. I appreciate their student-centered approach to learning and have incorporated this philosophy into my practice.

I work with students who struggle with the fundamentals of math and basic business computer skills. I am different from other tutors because I use a relational approach to fill any knowledge and skills gaps. When working with me, you should feel more comfortable in understanding and applying the basic concepts to multiple situations and circumstances. You can achieve not only higher test scores (including standardized tests such as the GED, PRAXIS, and SAT) but a better understanding of the learning objectives and higher levels of proficiency in your studies. Results in my practice include high school and college students who were failing but go on to achieve a B in the class and aspiring teachers whose PRAXIS scores increased by 10-30 points!

I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have an MBA from a regionally ranked school where I graduated with a 3.4 GPA. I also have experience as a business advisor, business consultant and small business owner.

Microsoft Access

I have been working with Microsoft Access for several years. I developed my first database in 1998 to track training and systems access for call center associates. I am familiar with 2007 and 2010 versions performing operations such as importing and exporting to and from Excel, building simple, append and make table queries, recording macros and creating forms and reports.

Microsoft Excel

Over the course of my career as a business analyst, I have used intermediate and advanced features of Microsoft Excel such as pivot tables, conditional formatting, statistical plug-ins and conditional analysis.

Microsoft PowerPoint

In my executive support roles, I have created and maintained professional slide decks for high-level Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. In other presentation uses, I have utilized features such as animation, smart art and audio tracks.

Praxis

The PRAXIS math exam includes much of the material that I have successfully tutored on the SAT, GMAT and other standardized tests. Content areas such as algebra, geometry and statistics are heavily featured in this exam. While it has some differences with other standardized tests, I have been successful in helping students gain the required points to meet or exceed the minimum required scores for the state of Delaware.

SAT Math

I have worked with students whose SAT math scores improved 100-200 points after receiving my services. I utilize standard test prep books to drill down and uncover the knowledge or skill gaps that need to be closed as well as work to hone test-taking skills for my students.

Statistics

I have taken graduate-level statistics three times (in different programs) where I earned no less than an A-. I successfully tutor both undergraduate and graduate students in all levels of math including statistics.
