Every mind is special and unique. Each child learns in a different way. A good tutor will find the key to unlock the secret to learning. Learning can be fun and exciting for the student and the tutor. I try to make my sessions an adventure. Sometimes the first step is the hardest. It may require the building of confidence to tackle the subject in question. I believe in a positive, patient approach.
First, I like to speak with the parents and student to get a background on the student. This helps me to develop a plan to teach the student. I encourage frequent communication from the parents and student.
My plan will include a goal of where the student needs to be in this subject. I also include some basic organizational steps for the student to maintain throughout the course of his/her studies. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored children in phonics, reading, writing, penmanship, and other elementary subjects for over 35 years and opened a world of learning to them. I feel that elementary education is the foundation upon which all future learning is built. I am a very patient and creative teacher who is able to adapt the lesson to the child's leaning style. I like to teach young children using games and crafts to make the lessons fun and hold the child's attention. I have a degree in English and Economics and have taken courses in child psychology.

I have been using QuickBooks in businesses and personally for more than 15 years. I have taught my staff of 27 people to use this system. I was originally taught by an accountant who was certified in QuickBooks. It is an easy system to use and can be customized to meet individual needs.
I am proficient in setting up payables, accounts, posting invoices and payments. I have taught writing checks and accounts payable. I am able to customize QuickBooks format. I can explain the reports derived from the information entered into QuickBooks. I have a degree in economics. I am a qualified teacher in the QuickBooks System.
I teach reading for meaning. My methodology is key words as well as understanding the question being asked. This work is time sensitive, and there are many ways to make sure the questions that you are most comfortable with are selected first.
Study skills are the foundation for a successful student. These skills become useful as life skills later on. When teaching study skills I concentrate on the following skills: learning to listen, reading comprehension, note taking, stress management, time management, memorization and test taking. Skills are modified to that way in which each student learns best. I have a degree in English and Economics. I have helped many students of the years to find the best ways for them to learn.
I am a 3.5 player. I have played tennis all of my life and am skilled at breaking the game down into its basic components in order to teach the game. I also believe that court etiquette is very important.
