Starting with a "Mr. Math" award in 1st grade, I have always enjoyed working with numbers. In college, I pursued Accounting and Business Math courses. That was the foundation to owning and operating a business in Milford since 1995. In addition to tutoring my own two teenagers in Algebra, Geometry and logic problems, one day a week I volunteer at a local private school helping 3rd - 12th graders to better grasp mathematical concepts. I attempt to relay "real-world" applications to the math principles that are being taught. It is my belief that anyone can understand the language of numbers as long as it is explained in concepts they can relate to. Methods of teaching are personalized to match the learning styles of individual students. Once the "fear" of learning something new is overcome there are no limits to what can be achieved. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
