My name is Antonnikka. I have been teaching for 8 years. I am currently a Special Education Coordinator at Gauger-Cobbs. As an educator, I have taught GED classes, English, Reading, Writing and Elementary. I have a Master's Degree in Education, Special Education and Adolescent Literacy and Computer Technology. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management at the University of Miami while on a Track and Field Scholarship.
What separates me from other tutors is my ability to instill confidence in the students that I teach. The key to academic success in any subject area is teaching students how to approach the problem and different paths to completing the task. My approach to tutoring is interactive. I believe in creating engaging experiences based on the students interest. Using material that interest students to teach them difficult material empowers them with a sense of accomplishment. As students become more confident the level of difficulty can increase because they have learned strategies that will help them approach future academic material. My goal as a tutor is to ensure that you have the skills and strategies you need to progress academically. The work that we will do will not be easy but I guarantee that you will develop confidence and become successful with difficult material.
Academic writing is extremely different from personal day to day writing. I have completed three different Master's Degrees. Each degree focuses on academic writing in APA format. I completed each of my degrees with a 3.8 GPA. I am currently working on my PH.D. where I am currently working on my dissertation. I am also a certified English teacher.
I am certified in Elementary Education in Delaware, New York and New Jersey. I have completed a Masters Degree in Education. I create engaging lesson plan activities that incorporate students learning styles. I continue to seek professional development opportunities to continue to add to my teacher tool box.
As a Special Education Coordinator and a teacher, I work with students with ADD/ADHD on a daily basis. Students with ADD/ADHD need opportunities to practice material in an engaging environment. I understand that ADD/ADHD students need additional breaks and prompting to remain on task. I encourage them instead of discouraging them. I am not distracted by tapping, humming and movement. I allow students with ADD/ADHD to learn in an environment that gives them flexibility.
I am New York State Triple Jump Champion, Eastern Conference Champion, New York Section III Champion, NCAA All-American, Scholarship athlete for the University of Miami. I have coached individual students. Each student has improved their running and jumping. One student is currently on scholarship at Morehouse. I work with three 11th grade football players that are currently being recruited by ten NCAA Division I schools.
I am a life learner! I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others so they can be successful. I will always use techniques and strategies that work for you as an individual. I do not believe in one size fits all programs. We are all individuals with different strengths and weaknesses. I will play to your strengths while improving your weaknesses. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. Hello,
